What is prayer?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for December 15, 2008:

A prayer is a request sent out into the Universe for something to be different than it already is.  Miracles happen as the result of chaordic process where one thing affects another thing which in turn affects another thing and so on until something beautiful happens.  No one knows how exactly this works but it happens over and over again.  Sometimes my prayers are in the form of a blog post that connects with someone I don't even know who is inspired to pass on that message to someone else who really needs or can make use of the information.  Sometimes I myself am inspired by other people's posts that trigger an idea in me about an additional way of expressing a similar idea.  All these different expressions of what is ultimately divinely inspired wisdom combine to enable something to actually take place whether it is the funding of a well-deserved project or a cure for a rare disease.

A prayer is the simplest of all activities that has the potential for the greatest of all possibilities, even if it is only to help a person frame an issue in their own mind such that they plant a seed in their own genius to bear its sweetest fruit at the time when it is most needed.

What question made the biggest impact on your life?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for December 16, 2008:

What is truth?  Or, what is the nature of truth?  Do I really want to know the truth if that meant that I would no longer want to live?  I've always wanted to know the truth regardless of its potential impact on my life.  That process led me to the realization that truth was relative.  I also learned about the nature of relativity itself.  What was true for one person was not necessarily true for someone else.  No one could force their idea of what truth was on me as I, myself, am the final arbiter of what is true for me.

Is there a God?  Is the nature of God relative?  Is a truthful statement about God even possible given the personal nature of each individual person's relationship to what ever concept of God that they have?
